Villa Rose Reviews
“Great stay“Great stay, the service was Extraordinary!”
Along with our favorite traveling partners; we booked two rooms at the Villa Rose in Samoens, France. It was a bit of a leap of faith, as we generally book major hotels and do not consider ourselves the B&B type; but any doubts were overwhelmed by the beautiful atmosphere and professional service of the staff. Villa Rose is not so much a B&B as it is a full service villa that becomes yours for a few wonderful days. We enjoyed good skiing and visiting the historic, local villages; but looked forward to coming home each evening to this comfortably elegant villa that we called home for three days. Exciting food…..allow the chef to select your meals, good wine, great service, and French country elegance made our trip. This would be a great location for a group professional trip, a family reunion, or any trip with friends. I highly recommend it and we will be back!Stayed February 2016, travelled with family
“A very special place to stay.”
We have been lucky enough to stay in some fine and beautiful places in the world but Villa Rose is something truly special. From the moment we got in touch with Selina (manager) to book, the service, professionalism, rooms, dining, welcome and friendliness have been nothing short of perfection.
On our arrival, we enjoyed complimentary champagne by a welcome fire in the sitting room (stunning feather ceiling lamps!). The villa itself is absolutely beautiful, each room is unique and furnished in sumptuous and elegant style. Even the area by the heated boot room is beautifully decorated and has a tempting box of choccies for hungry skiers! We stayed in the Caviar room. It has the most beautiful bathroom with a large roll top bath (divine after skiing) a large and seriously good rainshower, lashings of hot water, two large basins, good quality smellies, big, soft towels and dressing gowns. Really good selection of teas and coffees, fresh milk (or for me, unsweetened soya milk) in the room. We also had a dressing room.
Nothing is too much trouble, Selina organised our ski passes, recommended an excellent airport transfer company, booked our ski hire and took us to the shop to introduce us (about 250 yards away). She ensures everything runs smoothly and is always on hand (either on the phone or in person) to chat, answer questions and make sure we were well looked after.
Every day, Jo or Selina would drive us to the quietest ski lift and pick us up again when we’d finished for the day.
Dan is an exceptional chef. I’m not the easiest in the world to cook for (dairy-free veggie, no fish or meat) and I can honestly say I had the most delicious food here than I’ve ever had anywhere. Every meal is beautifully presented, my husband was also delighted with his meals. (And there is always a freshly made cake awaiting hungry skiers at teatime). The dining room is open plan with the kitchen, something we really enjoyed because it meant we could talk to Dan whilst enjoying our meal (and I could quiz him on his delicious recipes!) and also chat to Lucy, who looked after us so well in the dining room and served such lovely wines! We also really enjoyed meeting the other guests over supper and one evening we chatted with the other two tables of French and English guests until nearly midnight over our wines and coffee!
Thank you Selina, Jo, Dan, Lucy and Izzie for looking after us in this incredibly beautiful Villa. We shall be back! And Dan, you need to write a recipe book (with a section on
‘Free from’), it would go down a storm!
Ps if I could, I would give Villa Rose 6stars
This small and beautifully formed hotel is a wonderful place to stay – having transformed a run down house in the middle of Samoens village, the Villa Rose team create a truly luxurious, peaceful experience.
The attention to detail in every room is clear to see. A real design eye has been cast across the whole place; beautiful furnishings, hugely comfortable seating and beds, finishing touches of thick fluffy towels and every day in room treats. Even the boot room has been designed for comfort and style!
Dan, Lucy and Selina absolutely made our stay. The fire always roaring, great cuisine was prepared right in front of you by Dan with complete flexibility on timings for breakfast and supper – working around the adventures we had planned for the day. An exceptional place.Thank you Villa Rose
Beautiful Boutique Hotel in Samoens
Villa Rose – this solid, gentile residence has been transformed into a small but beautifully executed boutique hotel. It is a gem of a place – the décor sparkles and every bedroom is individually decorated. In fact I’m tempted to say curated rather than merely decorated – it is a well thought out and lavish scheme and no corners have been cut. The salon and sun lounge are places you could while away many hours without any difficulty. We visited in October, out of season and enjoyed a superlative 3 course meal plus canapés. The chef Dan really enjoys his kitchen and creates dishes that can’t fail to please in terms of aesthetic appeal and taste. A few photos are attached to tempt your tastebuds! All food is cooked in view of the diners – luckily Dan is a very neat chef! The manager Selina is very welcoming and offers a full concierge service – she has many years working on super yachts and her attention to detail and customer care are excellent.Although we only visited for a meal I shall certainly be recommending Villa Rose as a wonderful place to stay – whether for a night or a longer stay.
Superior, child friendly bilingual service
Treat yourself, you won’t be sorry. All the comfort of your own home … yet so much more. We stayed at VR for 5 nights in 2 spotlessly clean, Frette linen bedecked, stylishly finished rooms in a wonderful period home. Though not at all my own taste, the owner’s attention to detail won me over. I’m talking about the sheer delight of a perfectly stocked kitchen and I mean perfect – beautiful expresso demi-tasses as well as EXCELLENT coffee. Apple TV and an outstanding library of films. Laundry facilities perfect for muddy post rafting kids’ clothes! The owner’s obvious care has clearly rubbed off on the staff. Selena and Sam were exceptionally kind, attentive yet unobtrusive. Overhearing our sometimes fussy pants daughter decline the FRESHLY SQUEEZED OJ because of the pulp, Selena literally silently strained the juice for her. See what I mean about just like home but BETTER? I didn’t mention breakfast but it is sensational. Elegantly presented, perfectly proportioned. Evian each morning and evening, bedside. And the beds? Firm yet plush, brushed cotton sheets, fluffy pillows. Exactly what’s required after a day’s mountain biking, parapenting, hiking, rafting or canyoning.
Absolutely Fabulous Hotel
We stayed at the hotel june 7th/8th and have to say it is one of the best. The food that was provided was excellent and of a very high standard and beautifully presented. Many thanks to Selina and Chef who were most welcoming. This hotel is perfect for summer and winter use, would love to stay here for a ski week/weekend. The position of the hotel in Samoens is ideal, short walking distance to the center. We could not recommend this hotel any more, a real hidden gem.Stayed June 2015, travelled as a couple.
Wonderful new villa in Samoens
What a find! We stayed at this newly renovated villa in the heart of Samoens last week and what a perfect experience from start to finish. We were greeted at the door and made to feel at home by Selina, and she showed us into a wonderful bedroom with a full bath. The room was spotless with great amenities, and the bed was so comfortable after a day on the slopes. Our chef, Pedro, made a delicious salmon dinner for us with a fabulous chocolate mousse for dessert, with wine and cheese in the lounge after dinner. The ski bus is right outside the front gate and we were on the slopes for some great spring skiing in no time. It was a great location for us as we had a friend that is not a skier, so she spent the afternoon wandering the shops in Samoens. Less than an hour from the Geneva airport, Villa Rose was a great find. We will definitely be back next year.
Luxurious wonderful break
We spent 3 nights in this wonderful boutique hotel, from start to finish the personal service makes this place unique. We were more than lucky enough to be the only people staying in the villa and it felt more like a chalet than a hotel! Selina offered to take us to and from the slopes everyday, organising our lift passes and ski hire. Dan and Lucy made our meals extra special with delicious gourmet food every morning and evening so definitely go half board! The decor of the whole place was perfect and cosy, having afternoon tea in the sun room after a long day of skiing was very relaxing. It was my daughters birthday and they couldn’t have made it more special for her by baking her a beautiful cake and a special French toast breakfast!Stayed February 2016, travelled with family.
We were very pleased with this quaint hotel. Each room has its own special meaning. The decorations were wonderful. The attention we received from the staff was top notch. Our rooms were clean and freshened everyday. The warm towels in the bathrooms were great. The food was spectacular and was prepared for our desire. We so enjoyed spending time in the different rooms at different times of the day with tea or champagne. We would recommend this special place for a get away relaxing vacation.Stayed March 2016, travelled as a couple
Fantastic Ski Hotel
We stayed here with friends. The boutique hotel was beautifully updated with significant attention to detail. The staff was perfect, meals were great. It’s location was great as well, walking distance to the main area of the village and right across the street from the bus stop which takes you right to the gondola/lift-ticket area.Stayed March 2016, travelled as a couple
“A peaceful, luxurious villa in the heart of Samoens”
The rooms are very well appointed, very comfortable and everything is well thought through. The lounge and conservatory are great places to relax and enjoy the view. The service (Selina) was fantastic, attentive and always helpful. The food menu was interesting and superbly cooked and presented. It felt like a bespoke luxury break, very relaxing and indulgent.
“Would definitely recommend it for a memorable stay.”
Selina welcomed us warmly when we arrived and provided just the right level of personal attention. The house itself is amazing with unique and different decoration in each room, and the chef made a delicious breakfast.
Wow, Excellent hotel, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Beautifully appointed, comfortable rooms. Luxurious lounge /TV room. The staff are fantastic, warm and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. I was wondering about the compulsory half board when booking and was very pleasantly surprised. The resident chef prepares a 5*, 3 course dinner each evening, fabulous. The dining room is open plan kitchen/diner, like being at a friends house. Beautifully presented and no stuffy formalities.
I’m looking forward to my next visit.
“Perfect place to stay”
This is the only place to stay in Samoens. We were in a group of 4 in the superior double room.
Don’t be put off by the distance from the lifts, as a door to lift pickup service (5 mins to the lifts by car) is provided by Selina, the manageress, who is the perfect host. Nothing is too much trouble. She even collected us from the lift after we had checked out! Skis and ski passes can be arranged for collection directly at the villa.
As for the villa, food and staff I can only repeat what others have said – beautifully decorated, very comfortable spacious rooms, excellent food cooked by a gourmet chef, luxurious lounge with log fire, heated boot stands, quiet and all those little extras.
Selina, Dan and Lucy are a fantastic team.
I have already reserved our room for next year.
Wonderful staff, comfortable beds, lovely food.
“Fabulous boutique hotel”
Lovely place to stay. Comfy bed, great bathroom, all fresh and clean.
